Guidelines for Use of the QuikSCAT Tropical Cyclone Radial Structure (QSCAT-R) Dataset

The QSCAT-R Dataset is freely available from the Tropical Cyclone Data Project web site and can be downloaded and used for academic, research, or internal professional purposes, however we ask that users adhere to the following guidelines on attribution, acknowledgement, and other aspects of dataset use.

A) When the QSCAT-R Dataset is used in any scientific paper, presentation, or product, please provide a data citation. The suggested format for a data citation is:

Chavas, D. and Vigh, J. L., 2015. QSCAT-R: The QuikSCAT Tropical Cyclone Radial Structure Dataset (Version 1.0).
Tropical Cyclone Data Project, National Center for Atmospheric Research, Research Applications Laboratory,
Boulder, Colorado. [Available online at: http://dx.doi.org/10.5065/D65B00J3.] Accessed* dd mmm yyyy.

where * dd mmm yyyy is the date which you last accessed the dataset (e.g., 16 Dec 2015).

B) If QSCAT-R data are used in a scientific paper or presentation, please cite any relevant publication(s) of the designated dataset contact scientist for the QSCAT-R Dataset. Relevant references for each of the above datasets are provided at: http://verif.ral.ucar.edu/tcdata/quikscat/references/.

C) Please acknowledge the support of Princeton University and the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in any publications or presentations using the QSCAT-R Dataset by including the following in your acknowledgments section:

We thank Dr. Daniel Chavas and the Tropical Cyclone Data Project for providing the QuikSCAT Tropical Cyclone Radial Structure
(QSCAT-R) Dataset. The QuikSCAT Tropical Cyclone Radial Structure (QSCAT-R) Dataset was created by Princeton University and
has been published by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) through a grant from the Bermuda Institute
of Ocean Sciences Risk Prediction Initiative (RPI2.0). NCAR is sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

D) Please do not redistribute or transfer the original dataset and documentation. This will help to ensure that new users always get the latest version of the dataset.

E) If you find any errors in the QSCAT-R Dataset, Dr. Chavas requests that you kindly send an e-mail detailing the error. Please check the Tropical Cyclone Data Project web site for any dataset updates, errata, or citations that may help your research. Dr. Chavas welcomes collaborations and can lend his expertise in interpretation and evaluation of the data.
